We're back talking shop with...
Brooke Carli, Florist and Owner at Blooms by Brooke
Brooke recently joined us on our excursion out into the desert this past weekend. Being that we were shooting a style guide and look book for festival season, I knew we needed to accessorize in a unique way. But how could we do that? Flower crowns are so Coachella 2012 and you've probably seen them in every brand's Spring look book since the mid-2000s. I knew Brooke had a unique creative eye when it came to putting together "bloom magic." In the end, Brooke exceeded all expectations and we were able to pull off an amazing shoot with the flower crowns as a staple in most of our looks. Get to know Brooke in my recent interview and view her 2016 trend-setting creations below:
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Vacaville, Ca which also translates to "Cow town" which is cool right?
Who inspires you?
Growing up my mum always taught me to appreciate the dainty things in life. She had a knack for making all things lovely from setting up beautiful tables just to have a tea party, to having the most intricately wrapped presents on Christmas that you don't even want to tear into. One thing that I got accustomed to growing up was always having fresh flowers in the house which now inspires me greatly. I blame her for growing so fond of blooms, because it brings a sense of home. Ever since I was a little girl I have always valued her opinion on anything and everything because she has always had the best taste. She has gone through life carrying herself with class and poise and I truly hope one day I can be half the woman she is.
Pine Trees or Palm Trees?
I think there's a sense of rest for me with both palm trees and pine trees so that is very hard to choose! I think of pine trees and relate that to getting away for the weekend with friends and camping, smelling like fire, playing live music and finding solitude in just breathing in nature. But on the other hand with palm trees I think of clear blue Turks and Caicos water, drinking out of a coconut while my skin burns to a crisp which also sounds lovely so I choose both if that's an option.
Where have you been dying to visit?
I have been longing to visit Italy. My dads side of the family originated from Lucca and I mean if you've had family there you have to go right? The history, culture, and fashion I would love to experience, and traveling truly grows you as a person! I could also really go for a walk down a cobblestone road eating gelato so there's that incentive too.
Boots or Converse?
The tomboy side of me says converse, but the business owner side of me says boots.
Whats your favorite TSL product?
My fav smile life product is the la la land dad hat, because let's be honest you can't go wrong with a dad hat. I enjoy the funky typography and black does go with everything! Hats are kinda my thing so it's literally a product I can wear everyday!
See ya next week guys! Hopefully on Monday ;) -KL
